MICROSOFT® DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (MCDBA)

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
This program prepare students to attain the Microsoft® Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) credential.  By earning the premier MCDBA credential, individuals are demonstrating that they have the skills necessary to lead organizations in the successful design, implementation, and administration of SQL Server databases.

The Microsoft® Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) credential is the premier certification for professionals who implement and administer Microsoft SQL Server™ databases. The certification is appropriate for individuals who derive physical database designs, develop logical data models, create physical databases, create data services by using Transact-SQL, manage and maintain databases, configure and manage security, monitor and optimize databases, and install and configure SQL Server.

Graduates may apply for jobs as Database Administrators, Database Analysts, Database Developers

PROGRAM OUTLINE

Module 1: 

Windows 2000 Professional
This course provides the core foundation for supporting Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional. The goal of this course is to provide students with the skills necessary to install, configure, customize, optimize, network, integrate and troubleshoot Windows 2000 Workstation.

 

Windows 2000 Server
Provides the skill necessary to install, configure, and customize Windows 2000 Server.  Students also learn to optimize performance of Windows 2000 server in Network, integrate resources and migrate resources to Windows 2000 Server.

Module 2:

Installing, Configuring, And Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition
In this course students will learn how to install SQL Server 2000. Considerations include clustering, default collation, file locations, number of instances, and service accounts.  Students will also learn how to upgrade to SQL Server 2000, Configure SQL Mail and SQL Agent Mail, Configure network libraries; Troubleshoot failed installations, Creating SQL Server 2000 Databases, Managing, Monitoring, and Troubleshooting SQL Server 2000 Databases, Extracting and Transforming Data with SQL Server 2000, Managing and Monitoring SQL Server 2000 Security.
 

Designing And Implementing Databases With Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition
This course provides student the following skills: Developing a Logical Data, Implementing the Physical Database, Retrieving and Modifying Data, Programming Business Logic, Tuning and Optimizing Data Access, Designing a Database Security Plan

Module 3:

Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure
Analyze and design TCP/IP environment for Enterprise Network with DNS, DHCP, IPSEC, VPN, NAT, and Certification Service. Connect multi-networks from distant locations.

 

Module 4:

Job Search Workshop

This course covers communications skills, effective resume writing, and job hunting techniques. Students are also taught how to improve their interpersonal skills and how to promote and market their skills using effective interviewing techniques.
